Holiday homes 'must be accessible all year round'

Overseas property investors have been advised to make sure their holiday home is accessible out of season.

Holiday-Rentals recommended that prospective buyers research how many airlines serviced their chosen area during off-peak months, as well as the frequency of services at this time of year.

Greg Grant, spokesperson for the firm, commented: "Your chosen location may enjoy year-round sunshine, but are flights still available outside peak season and are local shops and amenities still open?"

The advice came at the same time as new research from Holiday-Rentals which identified the most popular markets among foreign property buyers in the UK.

Most British investors were found to have opted for easily accessible markets such as Spain and Italy, while the introduction of flights to eastern Europe was credited with helping to encourage interest in this region, particularly Bulgaria.

This comes after research by Yorkshire Bank showed that almost half of people in the UK are considering investing in a foreign property.
