Spain is likely to be one of a number of destinations to receive British visitors during the festive period, it has been claimed.
A new study by Co-operative Travel found that more than three million people are expected to travel abroad this Christmas, the Daily Mail reports.
Spain is predicted to be the most popular destination for those seeking winter sun, with the country likely to see a 19 per cent increase in the number of Brits travelling there compared with last year.
Commenting on the findings, a spokesman for the firm said: "After a year of bad weather, rising interest rates and wall-to-wall reality TV, people just want to celebrate Christmas somewhere else this year rather than at home."
In related news, currency firm HiFX recently reported that more than 16 million people in the UK would consider moving abroad because of present economic conditions at home.
