Overseas property investors in Spain's Costa Blanca are set to benefit from the introduction of new flights to the region.

A thrice-weekly service to Alicante will be operated by Ryanair from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

This is likely to trigger a surge in visitor numbers in the popular tourist hotspot, potentially creating new opportunities for overseas property investors.

Alternatively, the increased accessibility to Spain from the Yorkshire region may make the country a more appealing option for holiday home buyers in the area.

Ashley Casey, spokesperson for Ryanair, commented: "[Alicante has] beaches stretching for kilometres, countless sightseeing attractions and a wealth of shops and boutiques with something to suit every shopper."

This follows last week's confirmation by Thomas Cook Holidays that it would begin operating additional services to countries such as Spain from Leeds Bradford Airport.
