Spanish tourists have targeted the beaches of Alicante in recent months, it has emerged.
Property investors with beach properties to rent to tourists are likely to have made good returns after 600,000 Spaniards visited Costa Blanca during July and August, reports TypicallySpanish.com.
However, the area has also proved to be the most favoured destination of choice for Spanish holidaymakers during October, ahead of the Canaries and the Balearic Islands, the article notes.
"More Spaniards spent their October holiday in Alicante hotels than on any other part of the Spanish coast," the news provider added.
The area's popularity with tourists may be set to grow further after British Airways (BA) announced its plans this week to launch a new service from London Gatwick to Alicante from March 30th next year.
Robert Boyle, commercial director for the airline, has said he is confident that the flights will be popular.
