An increasing number of Britons are choosing to spend Christmas in countries such as Spain, it has been revealed.
TravelRepublic.co.uk stated that rather than sit round the fire over the festive period, many people preferred to leave the country for a sunnier alternative.
The online travel agent said that Spain was the one of the most popular destinations for Christmas holidaymakers.
Meanwhile, Egypt and Portugal were also found to be attracting a significant amount of people from the UK.
Commenting on the findings, Paul Furner stated that many travellers were choosing to spend as long as two weeks abroad.
He said: "People need more than a few days of pounding the pavements sightseeing and shopping to recharge their batteries."
The research follows a similar study by Co-operative Travel which found that more than three million people are expected to travel abroad this Christmas.
