Spain is set to become the number one European destination for British investors, according to Spanish Property Insight.
Spokesman Mark Stucklin said that despite recent reports of planning permission problems, there is no chance that people are going to desert Spain.
"There have been some scandals that people are aware of and there has been some bad press. That's an issue to be resolved. But I don't think people are going to abandon Spain just because of that," he said.
And despite the fact that inheritance tax applies to Brits who own property in Spain, investors are still interested in purchasing Spanish property, said Mr Stucklin.
He remarked that he is unaware of any cases where buyers have refrained from buying in Spain because of inheritance tax, although he emphasised that the laws vary from region to region.
If in doubt about the regulations, the best thing to do is to ask an independent lawyer, he added.
Earlier this week, currency specialist HiFX said that 55 per cent of all property enquiries from UK investors are about Spain and France.
