Barcelona has been singled out as an outstanding performer in the Spanish property market, possessing a number of advantages over other parts of the country.
In a feature on the Catalan city, the Daily Mail noted that prices have held up much better than in the rest of the country.
Estate agent Alex Vaughan of Lucas Fox old the paper that prices in the city have been falling since 2007 and should continue to do so in the near future.
However, he added: "The key is supply and demand and there is a shortage of properties on the market, so in the medium to long term, prices will inevitably rise."
He added that those buying for long lets in spain will not find strong yields in the short term, but can enjoy eight to ten per cent returns for long-term rentals.
