A friendly and welcoming atmosphere in Spain helps to ensure that British holidaymakers feel at home, the country's tourism office has claimed.
The popular European destination has long been a favourite among tourists, with a significant majority of those taking a break there planning to make a return trip.
"Brits have been travelling to Spain for many decades. They like it and tend to go back. Nine in ten that arrive in Spain every year have been in the country before. They feel at home. That's one of the main things, they don't feel like they are in a foreign country," Carmen Hernandez Gomez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourism Office, said.
The news may encourage a number of Brits to consider buying a property in Spain, with a recent study by sunshine.co.uk also revealing that the country is considered the 'safest' destination to visit.
Respondents to the Spanish Tourism Office survey were asked to rate how safe they felt in various countries on a scale of one to ten, with Spain getting an overall average rating of 9.8.
