Canary Islands tipped for warmth

Those keen on investing in Canary Island property may be encouraged by news that Tenerife offers one of the warmest destinations for a short autumn break.

Responding to a query about the best temperatures on offer, Sunday Times travel expert Richard Green said the island offers a higher average than the Tunisian capital Tunis.

He said that daytime temperatures average one degree hotter (21 degrees C against 20 degrees C) in November, while the sea temperature is 22 degrees C in Tenerife, making it three degrees higher.

Mr Green added that the biggest difference is night-time temperatures, where Tunis is just 11 degrees C but Tenerife enjoys an average of 16 degrees C.

Such a difference may attract those looking for a year-round property investment, particularly those who would rent it out to tourists in the winter season.

Tenerife is not the only one of the Canary Islands to be recommended as a winter break destination.

Last weekend the Daily Mirror identified Fuerteventura as one of the best locations to get away to in the coming months.
