Tourists are still expected to flock to Spain despite the credit crunch, it has been revealed.

According to Monarch Airlines, 77% of respondents to a poll on the company website said the credit crunch would not reduce the number of flights they would go on next year, although 41% said they were looking to reduce costs.

These findings are backed up by the fact that 43% more people have booked a summer flight through Monarch this year than had done at this time 12 months ago, with the airline noting that demand for flights to the Canary Islands, Cyprus and Malaga, Spain was particularly strong.

This suggests demand for rented accommodation will at least remain constant - making property investment in the three countries particularly appealing.

"The results of our recent online survey are contradictory to the current situation in the economy, however not really surprising when looking at the recent bookings patterns for Monarch's scheduled flights," commented Liz Savage, managing director of Monarch's scheduled service division.

Malaga is situated in southern Spain and is famous for its castle and Roman amphitheatre.
