Established European markets attract British buyers

Overseas property buyers from the UK are continuing to favour established European markets, according to experts.

Assetz Finance stated that during the last few months, there has been a surge in the overall number of enquiries it received from prospective investors in foreign property.

However, it singled out property in France and property in Spain as the two locations that were attracting the most interest. Commenting on this trend, Katy Hepworth of Assetz Finance said this could be partly due to the good deals now on offer to consumers.

Specifically, she stated that French and Spanish mortgage lenders are now allowing access to a much wider range of products.

Ms Hepworth commented: "Buying a home overseas has become an increasingly accessible option for those looking for a change of lifestyle."

The findings comes after a poll by A Place in the Sun magazine identified Spain and France as the two most popular locations among overseas property buyers in the UK.

This is despite the emergence of cheaper, less-established markets elsewhere in the world.
