People who own a holiday home on the continent have been advised to consider driving to their foreign residence.
According to NuBricks.com, consumers who drive abroad could potentially save money by avoid car hire costs and extra baggage fees on aircraft.
Furthermore, the website believes this could be a good way of making the journey abroad far more interesting , as travellers can take any route they wish.
NuBricks.com remarked: "Driving down to your holiday home may work out more cost-effective than flying."
The website added that while oil prices may be impacting on the cost of fuel across the world, some countries are still relatively inexpensive.
For example, Spain was said to have the cheapest unleaded petrol in the eurozone, as it only costs about £1 a litre.
Research by Vauxhall recently revealed that places such as France and Spain are very popular with motorists who are taking a holiday abroad.
According to a survey by the car manufacturer, nearly two-thirds of respondents considered driving a good way of finding more about the place they are visiting.
