Inland parts of Andalusia offer buyers and visitors a whole new range of attractions that differ markedly from the coast nearby.
The town of Gaucin has been remarked on by Daily Telegraph travel writer Tim Jepson as being a particularly "astounding" location, with whitewashed homes, narrow streets and mountain views.
All this is "framed by craggy peaks, vultures wheeling overhead and surrounded by miles of sun-drilled hills dotted with carob, cork oak and shimmering fields of wheat", he added.
Such features may interest those keen on quieter inland parts of Spain as an alternative to the crowded coastal areas.
Another is to find parts of the Spanish coast that are less busy than the Costas, something suggested in a feature by the same paper last month.
This suggested seeking out locations such as the Costa de la Luz, which it notes has not been Anglicised as Britons seldom go there.
