Mallorca is proving itself to be resilient to the economic problems faced by Spain, with recent figures suggesting that property buyers are favouring the region.
Spain's largest English language property portal, Kyero.com reports that over half of all the enquiries it has received in the first three months of the year have been for property on the Mediterranean island.
"Mallorca seems be receiving a touch of the Monaco effect, attracting the rich and famous to our shores. The island is already noted for being fashionable, desirable and fantastic for boat owners and beach lovers alike," Ignacio Osle, sales and marketing director of Taylor Wimpey de Espana, said.
Further statistics show that 17.1 per cent of all enquires made were for properties priced between €300,000 and 500,000 with the majority of investors looking for two bedrooms.
Kyero reports that popular locations include Palma de Mallorca, recently voted one of the five leading Spanish towns for travel and tourism in 2010 by Exceltur, Andraxt and Puerto Pollensa.
