Murcia property 'a good bet for investors'

There are three main reasons why real estate investors should consider buying a property in Murcia, according to one firm.

International Property Success highlighted the opening of a new airport, the construction of a theme park and low asking prices for real estate as signs that the region is ripe for investment.

The organisation cited data from the ST-Evaluation Society, which indicates Murcia is one of the lowest priced areas when it comes to property in Spain, with values down 33 per cent from their peak.

Jon Ainge, managing director at the company, commented: "With property prices this low and rental potential incredibly high resulting from the likely demand for accommodation nearby, this is an ideal opportunity to invest in the best resorts."

Earlier this month, Chris Mercer, director of local estate agency Mercers, described the prospects for Murcia's real estate sector as positive in the medium term, citing the opening of the new airport and the jobs created by the construction work on the Paramount theme park as two reasons why demand for rental accommodation in the area is expected to grow.
