Children can gain in many ways from living overseas, an expert has suggested.
A spokesman for overseas resident portal expatforum.com stated that there are numerous advantages to such an experience for youngsters, with these including an exposure to different culture and experiences.
"The ability to take on new languages, new ways of life and a new environment should not be overlooked - these are all plus points when entering the employment market in later life," he stated.
Learning a new tongue is something younger children in particular are likely to be adept at, the spokesman noted, suggesting that this means English-language education is not essential.
Such comments may interest parents thinking of moving to countries such as France or Spain.
The comments follow a survey by NatWest that found 93 per cent of expats with children thought living abroad had been beneficial for their offspring.
Of these, 82 per cent said the attainment of self-reliance was the greatest gain enjoyed, while 76 per cent valued the cultural experience.
