Owners of rental accommodation in Spain could be in line to benefit from an influx of Russian holidaymakers.
According to Lastminute.com, the appeal of the European country is spreading beyond places such as Germany and the UK into places such as Russia.
As a result, tourism authorities and holiday providers are looking to tap into the Russian market in order to encourage further growth in visitor numbers.
This is likely to a positive development for buy-to-let investors who have purchased a property in Spain, as it suggests demand for rental accommodation could be set to grow.
John Bevan, managing director of Lastminute.com, said: "The battle for Europe's sun beds will be more intense than ever this summer as the Russians establish themselves as the most prominent outbound tourism market in Europe."
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, Spain is currently the most popular foreign destination among tourists from the UK.
