Spain 'a great place to buy now'

Spain is a very good place to buy at present because of the recent fall in prices, it has been stated.

Oliver Chandler, spokesperson for Spain Magazine, said the country may be a difficult place for agents and developers because of the market downturn, but for buyers "prices are very favourable even despite the strength of the euro against the pound".

He added that while there are many good destinations that might appeal to people such as Florida or New Zealand, Spain has the advantage of proximity to Britain and the plentiful supply of low coast air travel.

Such an attraction is "never going to go away for British people", he concluded.

Figures from the Association of International Property Professionals showed that last year Spain remained the most overseas popular buyer destination for Britons, accounting for 25.4 per cent of all purchases.
