New data from BAA Scotland reveals that Spain is still the favourite overseas holiday destination for Scottish people.
According to the airport operator's statistics, over 1.2 million holidaymakers flew to Spain from the airports in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen last year.
In addition, four of the top ten individual destinations for Scottish travellers - Alicante, Malaga, Tenerife and Palma - were in Spain.
The findings represent good news for property investors in Spain who may be looking to rent their home to visitors during the holiday season.
"It seems that Spain is as popular now with Scots as it has ever been," commented Donald Morrison, spokesperson for BAA Scotland.
The figures from BAA Scotland revealed that France has moved up one place to become the fourth most popular overseas destination among Scots.
Spain will receive even more foreign visitors if the country proves to be successful in its bid to stage the 2018 World Cup. The country's football federation has submitted a joint bid with Portugal to host the tournament.
