Individuals with property in Spain may be interested to learn that the country is the top destination for golf tourism.
According to data from the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, the Spanish market has managed to capture 35 per cent of the entire European market.
This has resulted in over one million tourists visiting the country to enjoy its golf courses every year, says Antonio Bernabe, director general of the Institute of Tourism in Spain.
Taylor Wimpey de Espana, a British developer based in Spain, says 78 per cent of its clients this year have been golfers.
Victor Sague, sales and marketing director of the firm, said: "The Spanish golf resorts are second to none. They offer homeowners and tourists alike, superb golfing amenities on their doorstep plus many championship and celebrity designed courses."
"Despite the market downturn over the last couple of years, demand in hotspots, such as Marbella in the Costa del Sol, is picking up rapidly, leading us to launch new developments to feed the hungry second home buyers."
