The weakness of the Spanish property market and the chance to pick up a cheap home have ensured that Spain remains one of the most popular places for British buyers.
Despite economic troubles in the UK, real estate markets around the world are starting to see a resurgence thanks, in part, to a return of British buyers, a report by mortgage strategy.co.uk has suggested.
According to a forecast made by the Association of Developers and Constructors, there are currently believed to be in excess of one million unsold homes on the market.
"Spain remains the number one destination for potential new buyers attracted both by the weakness of the property market and the chance to bag a bargain," the news provider noted.
The news follows a report by AFP which revealed that property sales in Spain increased by 5.9 per cent in 2010. Figures released by the country's housing ministry show that there were 491,061 transactions over the course of the last year.
