Spain still number one

A Spanish building firm has claimed that Spain deserves to hold on to its place as the UK's favourite overseas property location.

With a recent survey by A Place in the Sun magazine revealing that Spain is still the most popular country for British buyers, Taylor Woodrow de Espana said the country's property market is strong enough to survive the current downturn.

Victor Sague, sales and marketing manager at the company, told Homes Worldwide: "We are delighted that once again Spain has been chosen as the UK's favourite destination when it comes to buying a place in the sun, but we're not surprised.

"Where else can you enjoy a beautiful balmy climate, stunning beaches and scenery, and affordable property only a short, low-cost flight away from the UK?"

Spanish prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero recently predicted that evidence of a recovery in the country's economic situation will begin to emerge during the second half of the year.
