Travelling Brits planning to visit Spain this Easter will be pleased to learn that the public holiday is well celebrated across the country.
The Spanish Tourist Office has claimed that locals commemorate the religious event "with a great deal of emotion".
A spokesman for the body noted that people spending Easter in Spain can expect mass celebrations to be taking place nationwide.
He added that the Spanish resort of Alicante is home to one of the biggest Easter events in the country, with the La Santa Cena procession taking place on April 21st.
"People take an active role in its events and traditions. By day and by night, the streets fill with the sound of drums, the colour of flowers and the art of religious sculptures, that come together to produce a highly moving atmosphere," the spokesman said.
The nationwide celebrations could encourage a number of Brits to buy property in Spain, with many tempted to take advantage of the low prices that exist at present.
According to searches on Skyscanner's website, Spanish destinations are the most popular for Easter getaways.
