Spain is seeking to galvanise its tourism industry through marketing itself more to young people, it has been stated.
Director of commercial affairs at The Co-operative Travel Shaun Hinds said that the country has seen its dominance come under challenge in recent years by newer markets such as Turkey and Egypt, but is responding by targeting the lower age ranges.
He commented: "This is obviously a benefit to Spain in the long term, by creating a new generation of loyal holidaymakers who recognise the variety and choice that the country offers."
Such a development could benefit those who may buy Spanish property, as they could rent it out to groups of young people.
Figures from The Co-operative Travel have shown an increase in its bookings among those aged under 30 in the past year.
In Majorca there was a five per cent rise in bookings for under-21s and a three per cent jump among those aged 21-30, while four per cent more under-30s booked to go to Ibiza.
