Airline to launch new Turkish route

Budget airline Flyglobespan has revealed that it is to launch a new Turkish route later this year.

A weekly service between Aberdeen and the Mediterranean resort of Dalaman will begin operating in May.

Rick Green, chief executive of Flyglobespan, said he is "delighted" that the carrier is offering direct passage to the region.

He commented: "Turkey, with its rich culture, great beach resorts and reputation as a value-for-money destination, is bound to be a winner."

Mr Green added that he believes the airline's programme for summer 2009 will prove to be a "great success".

This could potentially help boost the property market in the Dalaman area, as improved accessibility could lead to more interest from prospective buyers.

Furthermore, the influx of additional visitors should help to fuel growth in the region's rental sector.

This comes after statistics from M&S Money revealed that in the last year, there has been a 53% increase in the number of British people buying Turkish lira.
