The removal of red tape and a better image could help turn the Turkish town of Antalya into a property hotspot, it has been suggested.
Antalya's chamber of commerce has told the Anatolia news agency there are 21,000 homes ready to be purchased by overseas buyers at healthy prices if the level of bureaucracy involved can be reduced and Turkey's image improved, Hurriyet.com reports.
Faruk Sayin, a member of the acting board of the chamber, said: "The decrease in prices and the rising exchange rate make our country attractive for foreigners to buy real estate."
A recent report sent by the body to the government argued that conditions such as obliging prospective buyers to write for permission to the Aegean Army Command - which can leave a long wait for an answer - should be relaxed.
Britons buying property in Turkey have helped increase tourism in much of the country, Artemis Travel noted.
It said that beach resorts like Didim and Altinkum - where the firm operates - are particularly popular.
