Turkey is one of the top ten destinations for overseas property investment thanks to its continued popularity among tourists, Buy Association has said.

Paul Collins, a spokesperson for the property website, believes property is still reasonably cheap in Turkey which is why it appeals to overseas buyers.

And because British tourists continue to flock to the country for their holidays, more so in recent years with the emergence of low-cost travel, there is plenty of demand for rental accommodation.

"It's certainly in the top ten destinations of people buying overseas property," he remarked.

"Partly due to the fact that property is quite cheap out there still, and partly because there's a really big history of British tourists going there on holiday - we've been going there for 30 to 40 years - so that really helps as well."

According to figures from Homes Worldwide some 17,000 British people now own property in Turkey, more than 500 per cent more than in 2003.
