Bodrum hailed as emerging golf destination

Bodrum has been highlighted as a developing golf tourism destination after Turkey was given an award recognising its emergence as a centre for the sport.

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators has awarded the country the title of Best Golf Destination of The Year in Europe for 2008.

Bodrum is one of the places that is getting involved in the growth of this sector, with three courses under construction or in the planning stages.

Such a development may help increase the value of property in Bodrum as the sport grows in popularity and prominence.

The area is already established as a seaside resort where water sports are an important feature of local life and tourism.

This month will see the 20th annual Bodrum Cup International Wooden Yacht Regatta.

As part of the event, which lasts for four days, there will be various shows and festivities taking place.
