A new attitude towards holidays is causing more British travellers to choose Turkey as their destination, it has been claimed.
Due to the worsening economy, a growing number of UK families are being forced to cut back on their holiday budgets in order to save money.
Travel agent Dawson and Sanderson claimed that more holidaymakers are opting for countries such as Turkey, where the favourable exchange rate means they have greater financial scope.
"In countries like Turkey and Bulgaria, the currencies are slightly weaker than the euro and your money tends to go further," said Kieran Saville, sales manager at Dawson and Sanderson.
"People still want their holiday abroad, but they are just a little more choosy about where they go."
Frances Tuke of the Association of British Travel Agents recently said that Turkey is now a "good value option" for UK visitors.
A growth in the number of holidaymakers heading to Turkey could be good news for property owners in the country.
