Turkey has been described as a "magnet for holidaymakers", which is great news for anyone thinking of buying property in the nation.

The Daily Mail recently featured an article on Turkey, suggesting that the nation's Turquoise Coast is particularly popular with property buyers as it offers beautiful surroundings and value for money when compared with some other holiday hotspots.

Speaking to the newspaper, Angela Campbell of Properties Away said that UK buyers also like the fact they can buy Turkish property in sterling, as the strength of the euro is putting them off many other nations.

The newspaper suggested that the country is popular with both private buyers and investors looking to generate rental income.

Select Resorts recently stated that Turkey is one of the most exciting markets for property investors, having seen a significant increase in sales over the past two years.

The firm also stated that property prices in the region remain good value.

Turkey 'boosted by exchange rate' http://www.propertyshowrooms.com/turkey/property/news/turkey-boosted-exchange-rate_237702.html http://www.propertyshowrooms.com/turkey/property/news/turkey-boosted-exchange-rate_237702.html Turkey 'boosted by exchange rate'

Turkey's exchange rate with sterling has made it more popular with British holidaymakers, Marks & Spencers (M&S) has said.

The M&S Travel Money Report for the third quarter of the year put the Turkish lira third in the list of most sought-after currencies for sterling conversions, with the cheap cost of visiting the country making it more attractive to holiday in.

M&S travel money manager James Yerkess remarked: "The Turkish lira is one of the few currencies against which the pound has held its value since last year, meaning tourists heading to Turkey will still see their cash go further."

Such a situation may boost those looking to invest in buy-to-let property in Turkey, as this year's trend might help establish it as a favourite destination with many people who might otherwise have opted for somewhere in the eurozone.

Earlier this week, founder of brokerage firm Istanbul Mortgage Bahadir Teker listed a number of reasons to suggest why now is a good time to buy in Turkey.

He told the Financial Times mortgages are plentiful, interest rates are dropping and affordability has improved.

Warning over non-European currency values http://www.propertyshowrooms.com/turkey/property/news/warning-over-non-european-currency-values_233448.html http://www.propertyshowrooms.com/turkey/property/news/warning-over-non-european-currency-values_233448.html Warning over non-European currency values

Those changing sterling into currencies outside the eurozone may not know enough about the value of goods in the countries in question, it has been stated.

Chief executive at foreign exchange firm FairFX.com Stephen Heath stated that as the pound has fallen nearly 20 per cent in value against the euro in the past year, consumers are looking father afield for their holidays.

"So people rep have looked at other destinations like Turkey and Egypt and have less knowledge about the currencies in those countries and the value of those," he observed, advising that consumers should seek more information.

While such advice may be useful for holiday makers, it could also be handy for people looking to buy a property in a country such as Egypt, both to show if their possible house purchase represents good value and to understand general living costs better.

Purchasing in a country like Egypt may be more attractive due to the weakness of the pound against the euro.

Comments by Bank of England governor Mervyn King this week suggesting a weak pound will be good for Britain because it will boost exports have been seen as causing a further drop in the value of the currency against the euro.

Economic pressures mean that a growing number of British travellers are checking the exchange rate before choosing their destination.

In a survey of holidaymakers conducted by the Telegraph last month, almost half admitted that exchange rates have become an important factor in deciding where they travel to.

This is because pound sterling is currently experiencing unprecedented falls against the world's other major currencies, making holiday destinations which were previously 'good value' less appealing to travellers.

As a result, countries where the pound has not seen major drops are growing in popularity, with Turkey one of main beneficiaries.

The Telegraph reports that Turkey's tourism industry enjoyed its "best ever summer" this year, as UK holidaymakers are attracted to a country where the pound has fallen by just 5% so far.

Shelter Offshore recently highlighted Turkey's growing status as a property investment destination, which has been boosted by the international profile of Istanbul.

The Post Office has revealed that the credit crunch is not hitting demand for foreign currency.

Figures from the organisation showed that September's sales of Turkish lira are 20% up on the same period of 2007.

This means it is one of the fastest-growing currencies among British holidaymakers, which suggests that Turkey will be a popular hotspot for tourists over the next few months.

Helen Warburton, head of travel services at the Post Office, described this month's sales of foreign tender as "buoyant".

She commented: "It would not have been a surprise to see a dampening in demand, but there has been no obvious sign of this to date."

Ms Warburton highlighted the recent collapse of XL Airlines, as well as the ongoing economic crisis in the UK, as factors which had been tipped to hit currency sales.

The findings come after the Association of British Travel Agents highlighted Turkey as a popular summer holiday destination among people from the UK.

Statistics from the group showed that the number of summer bookings for trips to the country went up by 20% this year.

A growing number of British consumers are choosing to purchase Turkish currency, it has been revealed.

According to the Post Office, sales went up by nearly 23% during the year to July 2008.

Figures also show that over the last 3 years, demand for the currency has risen by 130%.

This contrasts with an increase of just 8% for the euro over the same period.

Commenting on the findings, Helen Warburton of the Post Office said: "Accelerating sales of Turkish lira suggest that many UK tourists are shopping around in Europe."

She added that Turkey has become attractive option for British consumers because it offers a much lower cost of living than many eurozone members

This comes after M&S Money revealed that it has seen a 53% increase in the number of people buying Turkish lira over the last year.

The organisation said this is because 1.9 million holidaymakers from the UK have booked trips to Turkey this year - 20% more than in 2007.

A growing number of British consumers are purchasing Turkish currency, according to new figures.

Statistics from M&S Money show that in the last year, there has been a 53% increase in the number of people buying Turkish lira.

This is because 1.9 million holidaymakers from the UK have booked trips to Turkey this year - 20 per cent more than in 2007.

Commenting on the findings, Fraser Millar of M&S Travel Services said the strength of the single European currency has fuelled the country's popularity among Britons.

He observed: "With the relative power of the euro against the pound, Brits are getting more for their money by opting for destinations like Turkey."

This comes after the Post Office reported a surge in demand for Turkish currency among consumers in the UK.

The organisation described the country as one of the "best-value" destinations in Europe.

British leisure travellers are increasingly shunning established markets in Europe, according to an industry expert.

Lucy Huxley, editor of Travel Trade Gazette, stated that countries such as Turkey are experiencing considerable growth.

Meanwhile, fewer people are choosing to visit destinations such as Spain and the western Mediterranean.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Ms Huxley said this is partly because people are feeling the pinch in the current economic climate.

However, she added that this does not mean people are willing to give up their trips abroad.

Ms Huxley commented: "A holiday is still the last thing to go. They are still incredibly good value."

She added that some people are willing to pay more their holidays, as there are fewer cut-price deals on the market this year.

The Association of British Travel Agents recently revealed that the number of summer bookings for trips to Turkey has gone up by 20 per cent this year.

Holidaymakers in the UK are increasingly showing interest in visiting Turkey, it has been revealed.

According to Cheapflights.co.uk, economic factors such as the strong euro are putting people off taking breaks to traditional hotspots such as Spain.

As a result, more people are searching for cheaper alternatives which do not use the single European currency and offer more favourable exchange rates.

Turkey was found to be attracting considerable attention from money-conscious holidaymakers, in particular the Dalaman area.

The website stated that in the last year, the number of people viewing information on this region online has gone up by 17.5 per cent.

Commenting on this development, Chris Cuddy of Cheapflights.co.uk said: "A definite trend appears to be emerging for alternative vacation destinations."

This backs up the findings of the Association of British Travel Agents, which recently found that the number of bookings for Turkey has risen by 20 per cent on a year-by-year basis.

A British airport has revealed that current economic conditions are driving a surge in demand for flights to Turkey.

According to East Midlands Airport (EMA), services to places such as Dalaman have proved to be very popular with consumers in recent months.

This has been mainly attributed to the fact that Turkey offers more favourable exchange rates than many other European countries.

Indeed, figures indicated that in the last year, there has been a 17 per cent increase in the number of people flying to destinations outside the EU.

Since the pound has recently slumped to all-time low against the euro, this could because people want to get more for their money in other places.

EMA commented: "More and more holidaymakers are choosing to jet abroad to more value-for-money destinations outside the eurozone, such as Dalaman in Turkey."

According to the Association of British Travel Agents, the European country has become one of the main hotspots for holidaymakers from the UK this summer.

In fact, figures show that the number of bookings has risen by 20 per cent on a year-by-year basis.

Consumers have been encouraged to take exchange rates into account when booking a trip abroad.

According to the International Currency Exchange (ICE), the cost of living in a country is just as important as the price of flights and accommodation.

Therefore, it has recommended that people look at how much small expenses will set them back, as they could add up throughout the duration of their trip.

In addition, it has suggested that people look at how much items cost in different countries, as some places could offer better value for money than others.

Andrew Hamilton, head of marketing at ICE, commented: "The credit crunch means holidaymakers should make sure they are getting the most for their pounds, as all the little extras soon mount up."

This comes after the Post Office reported a surge in demand for Turkish currency among British consumers.

The organisation described the country as one of the "best-value" destinations in Europe, as the weak pound has made trips to eurozone members more expensive.
