Ongoing economic problems in the UK do not appear to be putting British people off travelling abroad, experts have said. According to online travel retailer On the Beach, consumers are continuing to purchase foreign holidays. This is despite the fact that many are experiencing financial constraints as a result of the credit crunch and rising living costs in the UK. Destinations in mainland Europe was found to be particularly popular with holidaymakers, with Turkey being the overall favourite. Simon Cooper, chief executive of On the Beach, commented: "Many of our customers are not willing to give up their hard-earned holidays." However, he said people are still looking for destinations which offer the best value for money. Since Turkey is not in the eurozone, British tourists could potentially benefit from more favourable exchange rates. The pound recently slumped to an all-time low against the euro, which has led to holidays in places such as Italy becoming more expensive.
