Turkey and Egypt are two countries that are likely to be visited by Britons looking to holiday abroad in 2009, it has been predicted.
According to Abta - The Travel Association, the two countries have become increasingly popular in recent years and this is set to continue over the next 12 months.
Spokesperson for the body Frances Tuke stated that while Spain will be the number one destination for many Britons, Turkey and Egypt are two "big growth areas".
"[Turkey] has been quite a good value destination [that] has broadened its value to the high end market as well," she added, noting that the fact that they are located outside of the euro zone boosts their appeal.
Egypt and Turkey, along with Tenerife and Dubai, were recently singled-out by Abta as being popular destinations for those looking to holiday over the winter.
The body noted that extra flights were laid on from Manchester airport to Dubai in order to cope with demand over Christmas.
