Rising tourism numbers are a 'big boost for Turkish property'

Individuals looking to rent out their property in Turkey may be interested to hear that experts have predicted that the destination can produce annual rental returns of about six per cent.

Developer Cumberland Properties has made the forecast after the European country defied the odds and increased its visitor numbers in 2009, Property Wire has reported.

Over 27 million tourists visited Turkey last year, with the figure representing a 2.8 per cent growth compared to 2008.

However, the real estate company claims that many potential investors are put off by the logistics and complications often involved in renting and marketing property overseas.

"Turkish property prices are still hugely undervalued so there's an opportunity to make really substantial returns on investments in areas such as the Bodrum peninsula," Eric Kaya, director of Cumberland Properties, told the news provider.

"Property investors can benefit from the high rental income that their properties are fetching in an area that has just about everything."

In addition, analysts have forecast that Turkey's economy is set for growth in excess of 5.4 per cent in 2010.
