Scottish couple snap up Turkish bargain

A couple from Scotland have been able to pick up a three-bedroom house in Turkey for GBP45,000, it has emerged.

James and Linda Flannagan from East Kilbride were able to buy such a property in Didim, near Bodrum, the Sunday Mail reported.

As well as the three bedrooms, the house has a balcony and a rooftop solarium.

Mr Flannagan told the paper: "We couldn't believe how much property you get for your money in Turkey."

He added that the weather is "fabulous", while the people are "friendly" and both the beaches and countryside inland are "pretty".

Mr Flannagan also explained that the process of buying the property had been straightforward.

Those keen on investing overseas may be tempted by the prospect of Turkey at such prices.

Last week the Daily Mail reported that Turkey is becoming attractive as a buyer destination due to the recent fall in the value of the lira against the pound.
