The south of Europe has been named as a popular location among winter holidaymakers from Scotland.
King World Travel said that many people were booking last-minute trips to countries such as Spain and Turkey in order to escape the British weather.
Jackie Sindlay, manager of the company's outlet in Paisley, said people were choosing to spend January overseas because they were "fed up" with the lack of sunshine.
She commented: "Last summer was terrible and families just want to finally get some sun."
Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express, she added that the January exodus was coming after the busiest December the firm had ever seen.
The Association of British Travel Agents recently stated that 3.5 million people from the UK went abroad during the festive season - up from three million during the previous year.
Sean Tipton, spokesperson for the organisation, described this increase as "substantial".
