Overseas property buyers in the UK have been encouraged to consider buying a residence in Turkey.

According to Shelter Offshore, the European country offers a number of attractions which could make it a lucrative investment market.

Turkey's burgeoning tourism sector was highlighted as one of its main attributes, as it is gradually emerging as the destination of choice for many British holidaymakers.

The website said the country's broad appeal could also enhance its investment credentials, as it means rental investors can target a wider consumer base and generate higher returns.

As a result, demand for property is relatively high and the economy is benefiting from growth in the tourist sector.

Shelter Offshore commented: "Anyone who buys a property in Turkey is buying in to an improving country that is proving positive in terms of property price expansion."

The online portal added that if investors are looking for an emerging market with strong growth potential, Turkey is the ideal place to consider.

This comes soon after Hisham A Rahman Khalifa of Shamil Bank told the Gulf Daily News that house prices in Turkey have risen consistently since 2002.
