An increasing number of Indian holidaymakers could be set to visit Turkey in the next few years, it has emerged.
A report by TravelBizMonitor stated that Turkish Airlines wanted to attract more holidaymakers from the Asian nation by increasing the number of services it provides.
The carrier already offers direct access to Mumbai and New Delhi three and four times a week respectively.
However, it is understood that it wants to operate larger aircraft on the route and fly to India five times a week instead.
Lokesh Bardia, sales and marketing manager at Turkish Airlines, commented: "80 per cent of Indians visiting Turkey belong to the leisure segment while about 20 per cent are business travellers."
He added that the carrier was currently negotiating with aviation authorities in India about increasing the number of flights.
Turkish Airlines recently said it was planning to upgrade and replace parts of its fleet next year, as well as introduce extra aircraft to handle the additional routes.
