In news that may interest those thinking of investing in property in Turkey, it has been reported that the Turkish province of Mugla has seen a major increase in tourist numbers this year.
New figures for the region indicate that 2.2 million visitors came from overseas by boat and plane in the first eight months of this year, the Turkish Daily News reports.
This number is an increase of 13 per cent on the whole of last year, when 1.9 million people visited.
Popular resorts in the province include Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye, with nearly half of the visitors coming from the UK.
Commenting on the news, the governor of the province Ahmet Altiparmak said: "We expect the number of tourists will be more than three million by the end of the year."
The visitor numbers from Britain may be helped to increase further by the intention of budget airline Flyglobespan to start new services from Scotland to the area.
Officials from the airline visited the region last week to see Mr Altiparmak and have now stated that there will be new flights from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh to Dalaman Airport from April next year, World Bulletin reports.
