Many Turkish consumers are choosing to holiday in their own country instead of foreign destinations, it has been revealed.
According to a study by GfK Turkiye, high-income earners and younger people tend to take their breaks in domestic locations, reports Today's Zaman.
Areas such as the Aegean coastline were said to be particularly popular with Turkish people, while Marmara has also become a hotspot among this group.
This could be good news for owners of holiday accommodation in these regions, as it represents further demand for temporary lodgings.
As a result, buy-to-let property investors could find themselves in line to collect healthy rental yields during the peak tourism season.
The research by GfK also found that Turkish tourists enjoy a variety of activities during their breaks, such as swimming, walking and shopping.
This comes after Shelter Offshore said that now would be a good time to buy a property in Turkey.
According to the website, current market conditions "could not be better".
