Dubai's Global Village to Attract Over 20m Visitors by 2011

The 2008 edition is enjoying the performance of a well-known Hungarian circus and its famous “World on Ice” show.  Amongst the various crafts stalls, we find a special corner that showcases the unique creativity of UAE women: The House of Talents. This year has also been a great event for one child:  namely four year old Rashid Salah, who was entered into Global Village’s Mega Raffle by his father and was the lucky winner of a Lexus top-of-the-range vehicle as well as a grand cash prize!. So whether it’s the rollercoaster rides, the shopping or the raffles that drive you, almost everyone ends up in Food Court. Here, curious visitors and connoisseurs can enjoy dishes and flavours from across the globe in a relaxed environment.
In 1996, the first Global Village opened its doors to welcome less than 500,000 visitors. Today, the festival has witnessed a steady rise in numbers - coming from all four corners of the world - and attracted 4.2 million people in 2007.  Organisers expect to see unprecedented figures reaching  5 million visitors this year.

Global Village will have a permanent presence in the area by the end of this year at Tatweer’s Dubailand, which will not only guarantee year-round trade for businesses, but ensure over 1,000 jobs on-site as well as increased capital appreciation and rental returns in the area.

This tourist attraction has high targets of over 20 million foot visitors to the Village by 2011, when the three permanent phases of the project are due to be completed. Development of an area with 80 high street outlets and a state-of-the-art amusement park will be implemented after this season’s run of Global Village. The project will be finished within the next three years and plans include a 560 room 5 star hotel alongside a 3 star hotel, along with over 1,000 residential units.  Abdul Redha Ali bin Redha, Chief Executive of Global Village, explained in a statement, “Once our permanent structure for Global Village is ready by 2011, it will provide cultural entertainment and add to the attractions that are already present in this city.”

Sara Romera, analyst at propertyshowrooms.com agrees that “Although there are more residential developments being constructed, the supply of property in Dubai is not due to catch up with demand until 2009 at least. With constant innovation on the part of  Dubai’s government to increase facilities on offer for residents and  tourists alike, this country continues to provide great returns for property investors, as well an unrivalled holiday destination.”
