Dubai investors 'should commit for long-term'

Those considering investing in Dubai's property market should view their move as a long-term option, according to one industry expert.

Rhiannon Williamson, the director of independent property publication Amberlamb ? said that although the local market's early "gold rush years" have come to an end, the emirate still offers "investor profit potential".

When the marketplace is viewed in terms of its overall investment potential, Ms Williamson states: "Dubai is in a position to support a mature, well-rounded property market which will be of longer term interest to investors rather than shorter term interest for speculators."

Earlier this month, Morgan Stanley published a report that suggested 42 million sq ft of office space will be made available in the emirate by 2008.

Writing on Morgan Stanley's website, Stephen S Roach also claims that according to industry sources between 15 and 20 per cent of all the world's cranes that are currently active in the world are based in Dubai.
