A budget airline has revealed that it has seen an increase in passenger numbers during the last year.
Figures showed that in July 2008, more than 5.6 million people boarded services operated by Ryanair.
This is 19 per cent up on the amount recorded a year earlier, and brings passenger numbers for the year to July to 54.19 million.
Commenting on the figures, Stephen McNamara of Ryanair said they show that demand for its flights is "rapidly growing".
He observed: "The most significant thing about today's figures is that we carried over 15 million passengers in the last 3 months."
The release of the figures coincides with the news that easyJet has also seen increased take-up of its services over the last year.
According to the low-cost carrier, it transported 4.5 million people in July 2008 - 20 per cent more than during the same point of the previous year.
