Investors looking to buy property in the US have been told to adopt a long-term outlook in order to see the greatest returns.
Paul Collins, editor at BuyAssociation, has claimed that investments in the country have the potential to become "very profitable" in the long-term.
"If you are investing in a property in the US - and there are many reasons to do so – you are looking at a medium to long-term investment which, if you are looking over those periods of time, could prove to be a very profitable investment," he said.
Mr Collins added that although prices in the US housing market are still gradually falling, now could potentially be a "very good time" to invest.
Figures released by the Joint Center for Housing Studies show that homeownership rates in the US fell below 67 per cent in 2010.
Elsewhere, Peter Mindenhall, researcher at IPINGlobal.com, recently claimed that buying a UK property without a long-term plan is no longer viable due to variations between localised markets.
