Back homes amendment, voters asked

A news provider in Florida has argued that voters should back a proposed change to the state constitution that would offer tax breaks to those installing eco-friendly and storm-resistant measures on their homes.

State Amendment Three would see tax exemptions for people who add renewable energy devices to their homes and Newschief.com has given its backing to the idea.

The portal said: "We see only upsides from this amendment and add our support for it."

Voters will get to cast their ballots this week as they vote in the presidential election.

Such legislation could encourage those looking to invest in US property, as there could be an increased supply of homes for sale with these additions, or investors can benefit from the tax rules if they add such items themselves.

Last month the Cay Compass said that Florida's property market is being buffered from the worst of the credit crunch by high tourist numbers.
