An airport in Florida is due to receive new government money for improvements that may help increase the number of tourists flying to the city, something which may interest those investing in property in the state.
Orlando Sanford International Airport is due to get USD9.2 million (GBP5.17 million) to improve its runway facilities, with the main existing runway to be improved at a cost of USD8.2 million and a second strip extended with USD1 million being dedicated to the acquisition of the necessary extra land, the Orlando Business Journal reports.
The same paper has also reported that Orlando International Airport saw over three million passengers in July, the seventh successive month it has had that much traffic.
Although the US tourist industry has been affected by the world economic situation, Walt Disney World, which is near Orlando, is still doiing well according to a local hotelier.
Last week Greg Hauenstein, the general manager of the Buena Vista Palace, told ajc.com: "Our business this year is up over last year."
