US investors worried that the recent BP oil spill would have a negative effect on Florida's attractiveness as a tourist destination should not worry, it has been claimed.
Visit Florida has stated that rather than a reduction in bookings, the region continues to be popular among holidaymakers, with tour operators reporting year-on-year increases in bookings.
Colin Brodie, director of the organisation's UK branch, explained that business had not been affected by the disaster.
"We haven't had any hotel cancellations, it's business as usual. All 1,200 miles of Florida's beaches are open and not intending to close at any time soon," he confirmed.
"It's a no-brainer for a family holiday. People are aware of it having been before, it is a repeat destination."
According to the Air Transport Association of America, an estimated 26 million people will take international flights on American carriers in 2010, with the figure up seven per cent from last year.
Earlier this month, RealtyTrac announced that the number of foreclosed properties entering the market had fallen for the first time in 40 months.
