Boston and California have emerged as two leading destinations for Britons aged over 50 who are visiting the US.
According to Saga Holidays, the two north-eastern locations are "popular" with holidaymakers due to their climate and pace of life.
"The north-east has always been a popular destination [as] it is a more laid back part of the US," communications manager for Saga Carl Catterall explained, news that investors looking to make a purchase in the US may wish to note.
And Mr Catterall also predicted that visits to the country are likely to increase during 2009, as the appointment of President Obama has generated a "feel good factor", meaning there will be "more of a desire" for people to travel there.
Investors who are thinking of buying in the country may be interested in the latest S&P/Case-Shiller property index, which revealed that the average US home fell in value by 18.2 per cent during 2008.
