US airline to launch Brazil services

Extra services between the US and Brazil are set to launch later this year, it has been confirmed.

Delta Airlines announced that in December, it will begin offering direct passage between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Fortaleza.

This further opens up the north-east of Brazil to consumers in the US, potentially boosting tourism and foreign direct investment in the area.

Commenting on the move, Christophe Didier of Delta Airlines said: "These new flights are the result of the recent limited expansion of the bilateral agreement between the governments of the United States and Brazil."

He added that he is looking forward to building on their mutual accord and expanding further into the Brazilian market.

This follows the news that American Airlines is also to launch new flights from the US to the South American country.

Last month, the carrier revealed that in November this year, it will begin offering services from Miami to places such as Recife and Salvador de Bahia.
