Home Turf: Properties of the Brazilian Internationals

As Brazil prepares to stage 'the greatest show on earth', we take a look at the homes that belong to some of the host nation's most famous footballing stars.

Neymar Jr.

At 22 years of age Neymar Jr. (Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior) has quickly risen to the top of his profession and the young footballer has certainly grown his property portfolio just as rapidly.

Within the space of two short years, Neymar Jr. reportedly purchased three homes for himself in Brazil (a $750,000 triplex, a $2 million mansion in a gated community, both located in the Northern Coast of the state of São Paulo and a $150,000 flat in the capital district of São Paulo) and one $1 million penthouse for the young mother of his child.1

Neymar Jr. also rents a home in the exclusive Pedralbes area of Barcelona (pictured above), allegedly paying around €18,000 pcm. His rented home measures around 1,000 square metres and comes complete with 'a huge swimming pool, 5 bedrooms, garage for 8 cars and excellent views of the main stadium of the city'.2

Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima

Former Brazilian international Ronaldo (Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima) recently opened the doors of his new São Paulo mansion to Brazilian Harper's Bazaar.

As he inexplicably threw playing cards and poker chips around in his games room (above), the interior of his two-storey property was revealed to be minimalist and modern, with plenty of marble and a statement sweeping wrought iron staircase.3

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira

Like many Brazilian internationals past and present, Ronaldinho (Ronaldo de Assis Moreira) owns multiple properties in both Brazil and Spain - one of his Brazilian homes is pictured above.

However football lovers do not have to remain content with mere photos of Ronaldinho's palatial pad.

The former Brazilian international is offering football fans the unique opportunity to enjoy the beginning of the World Cup from the comfort of this sprawling mansion while he holidays in China as the tournament kicks off.

The property is available to rent for the first half of the tournament from £9,176 per night and Ronaldinho's personal team will also 'be ready to help whenever you need'.4

Having listed the property on the short term rental website 'Airbnb', Ronaldinho has also shared a picture of the property on his verified twitter account to confirm the authenticity of the listing. Pictures and descriptions show the property to be 10,700sqft of pure luxury, with five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and sauna.

A treehouse is nestled within the grounds and there is even a stage located within the house intended for 'samba parties with friends'.

Local beaches are 10 minutes away by car and downtown Rio and the Maracanã stadium are situated within a 30 minute drive, making the property ideally placed for fans to enjoy the tournament.

Photos on the listing also show that the property houses an array of trophies won over the course of Ronaldinho's career, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup itself…

Edson Arantes

The most legendary of all Brazilian football players, Pelé (Edson Arantes), lives in this modernist property in Guarujá - a small coastal town near São Paulo.

The home of 'O Rei do Futebol' is right on the beachfront with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, and has a courtyard, glass roofed 'indoor garden', swimming pool and tennis court.

Little, however, seems to be known about the value of the property.5
