  1. In which country do you sell property and to what level has the real estate market in your country been affected by the global crisis?

We sell property in Italy, in the beautiful region of Sicily. We have not been effected by the global crisis, our clients are from all over the world ? USA, Canada, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Czech Repubblic etc.

  1. Have property prices risen or fallen in the last 12 months, or have they bottomed out?

The property prices have remained stable during the past 12 months.

  1. What advice would you give property owners in your area now who are thinking of selling up?

The economic situation in Italy is improving and prices should be rising in the bext 6 months.

  1. Does property in your country represent good value for the investor and if so, why?

Sicily has some of the most economic property in Italy, our town is ideally located - 30 minutes from stunning unspoilt beaches and? 30 minutes from spectacular mountain ranges.

  1. How long before the property market in your country returns to pre-crisis levels and what can we do to avoid the same situation again?

We think that the situation will return to normallity? in the next 18 months.

  1. From which country do you find the majority of your property buyers are coming from?

Mainly the UK but we have seen a large increase from the Scandanavia countries such as Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Has this changed significantly over the last 5 years?

  1. What attracted you to selling property in the region?

We saw the potential that the area has to offer as regards climate, culture, cuisine, beaches, lifestyle etc.

  1. What would you estimate the percentage split is between local buyers and international buyers?

It is almost a 50/50 split.

  1. Do you believe the local Government in your market country is actively encouraging or discouraging foreigners into buying property?

Absolutely yes, the local government have actively encouraged and assisted ourselves and foreign buyers before, during and after the buying process. They are always available for help, advice and information.

  1. What's the biggest benefit for investors of buying in your country over anywhere else?

The area has to offer as regards climate, culture, cuisine, beaches, lifestyle etc. Also, prices are cheaper than mainland Italy and other parts of the Med. We have remained unspoiled by mass tourism and have retained our unique character and culture.

The decreased numbers of buyers have forced many developers to put their projects on hold. This is mainly true for Pattaya.
